Ranger Console install

I have an 04 Ranger with a 60/40 front seat setup. I picked up a 40/20/40 out of an 05 FX4 Ranger today. I was wondering if anyone has any install tips? Mainly how you installed the aluminum mounting bracket. Everyone just install self tapping screws? My plan is to cut the hole for the front mounting clips then install the base and cut out and try to install the rear mount. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. I only got one shot at cutting the vinyl flooring.

For the rear bracket there are little bumps in the sheet metal where the screws go. Just drill a hole in the center of each one. I through bolted mine with big fender washers on the bottom. The front I got everything to mount it like the factory did. I don't exactly remember how I did it. It has been a while. To cut the floor I don't know what to tell you. I had the carpet out a week before I installed the console so I had an idea where to cut. Just don't cut too much. I did but luckily the console covered it up. What I did was cut a slot down the middle and a "T" at the ends and then looked under the carpet to see where the mounting spots were and slowly cut until the hole was big enough.

Thanks for the input. I got in the new seats and console and loved them until I took it on a test drive. The Air bag light was on So I checked the code and it was a 46 so I replaced the drivers side seat belt pretensioner. I started up the vehicle and now I'm getting a code 47 the pass. side pretension has been activated too. So now I have to wait for the rain to leave so I can pull the truck out and swap the pass. side belt pretensioner out.

Do you have a 2 door? or 4 door truck? Mine is a 2 door. I think I'm going to have to see about putting some jump seats in the back now that I only have a 2 seater.

i used self tapping screws and my bracket isn't moving anywhere haha. you can do it however you fell is right i guess.

did you hook up the plugs under the seat? thats prob why the light is on. but if they are connected, try disconnecting the battery for like 10 min then hook it back up so it clears the code. if it comes back on, then you gotta replace it.

Both the seat belt tensioners had gone off. After looking at them the ones on the new seats were much shorter. The truck the seats came from was rolled over and set off both air bags. I wouldn't of thought that would affect the seats but it did. I finished up replacing both the tensioners and now there is no light. I love the console but I'm not super happy with fit of the console lid. It looked like it fit great when it was in the wrecked truck but not after I reinstalled it on my truck. There doen't look like a lot of adjustment on the thing. I'll play with it some other time though. I'm tired of sweating out in the garage.

The console I got out is out of an 05 FX4. Its very similar to the style of console that was found in early explorers. My cousin had a 91 explorer and the console is more or less the same. The only difference is the cup holder set up, and thats just an insert that snaps in and can easily be replaced.
