i noticed today that my rear sliding window is leaking the cupholders are half full of water and the bottom edge of my head liner is all wet. how hard is it to replace the window seal?

i never thought of that. i took it off to niteshade it and did notice that the seal was s*** i will check it tomrrow.

 

yeah. before you take it off pour a little bit of water over it. then take it off and see if you see any in the metal gally thing behind it

 

im guessin the ford dealer sells those seals right?

 

i always bought a new 3rd brake light lol

Did you search? Cause this was covered last week. Again here is your answer. It is not the window or the break light. It is this piece right here. Run a bead of silicone in it and it will be fixed.

 

You cannot buy just the seal. You have to buy a whole new light. You will have to niteshade another one.

bro, we are ext cabs.. and if he has a 4dr (which is most likely considering the year) he will not have that seal

 

its prob also the 3rd brake light NO NEED TO buy a new brake light all you need is more closed cell foam load that bad boy up and it will fix the problem amazing am i the only one that has had my 3rd brake lights off like 1000x and never had a leak...


adam his truck is super cab if it was a 2 door super cab there is a similar molding along the roof line like that my Black Splash leaked too i sealed it up there also

i had the same problem also on my 04 I just changed the 3rd brake light

 

closed cell foam people fixes your problems... i had a wire run between mine and the cab and never had a leak amazing

 

so should i get a sheet of that stuff and just cut it out to fit where the original foam seal gos?

 

you can get a roll style just put the "seam" of it on the bottom then double back up on it over the seam...

Quick Revive: Where do you buy this stuff, I have a leak on my rear window too and I think its that 3rd brakelight

 

I tried the foam, but did not get it thin enough, so i ended up just spraying great stuff in there and worked fine. You can find it at most hardware stores, and probably fabric stores too.

 

home depot sells different types of foam in rolls. Thickness of foam and width vary, look for one that works for you. I used a roll of the thickest/widest I could find when doing my efan install, havent had a problem with it.

 

I just used some clear silicone from home depot... works great (and you can clean it up so it doesn't look all haggard unlike everything I do). Hasn't leaked since.

Of course the duct tape I used temporarily worked amazing too.

 

Yup silicone does the job just fine and you can get it into all the nooks and cranny's really easy and just wipe off the excess.

 

Ditto on the clear silicone.

It's a PITA to get the 3rd light back off if you use too much though.
