anyone got any tips on removing that rubber coating the center bezel?
I don't wanna sand it and scratch it up. I just wanna remove the rubber coating since it was peeling anyway...

any chemicals or processes to speed it up???

 

maybe paint thinner...or prekleno its a painting prep.

 

just peel it with your nails while watching tv. it's gonna take a while

 

yeah...that's what i've been doing....and it looks like that's how i'll end up finishing it unless someone knows an easier way...

i thought about the paint thinner, but i would think that there's a possibility of damaging the plastic

Rubber burns, trust me on that one, and it smells like ***. Not to mention you run the risk of burning the plastic ( i know it would happen too, the way i bet that **** would burn).

I Know this is a old thread but this may help. I simply brushed brake fluid on the bezel coating with a paintbrush...let it set an hour. It bubbled up the rubber coating and i wiped it off with a rag. It didnt hurt the plastics a bit. Almost dont need painting.

 

i used a Scotch Brite pad...the green ones....just dont use alot of pressure.....it was just rough enough to remove the rubber coating and not scratch the surface below...JUST DONT PRESS HARD!
