i have a 99 ranger xlt with the rubber shifter boot but i see like leather/vinly ones. are these later model ones or custom?

Most of the leather/vinyl ones are used with a Hurst, FX4 shifter. If so then you can grab them from FX4's which would only be 03+'s. As in 02 the 5 speed trucks were twin sticks and it wouldn't be the same boot as the 03+.

 

You can make custom boots fairly easily using whichever material you would like.
