So I finally took some pics of the twin Hurst sticks I installed, and of the new cd player, speakers, and boxes I made.

Attachment 128022

It's a Pioneer DEHp5100UB player. The only thing I don't like so far is the knob.

The speakers are Infinity Kappa 6x9's in some custom built boxes that actually fit behind my seats without rubbing.

NICE!! That's what my twin stick setup was going to be if I never found L2 stuff! I like!!

rangerboy101 11-29-2009 05:25 PM

Twin Hurst FTMFW! Looks great!

NATEFX407 11-29-2009 05:35 PM

Love it. Nice boxes.

Fx4wannabe01 11-29-2009 05:38 PM

Wait a sec! You finally put the vinyl floor in?

Yeah, but it looks like ass. It sat in my basement for like 6-7 months all folded up. When I put it in, it was like 50 degrees out and the vinyl never molded to the floor. Now there are creases and bumps all around the tunnel and behind the seats.

Fx4wannabe01 11-29-2009 05:45 PM

Well that kinda sucks. How does that undermat perform?

bjohnson238 11-29-2009 05:48 PM

I think dynamat or something similar would work better, but it's ok.

Fx4wannabe01 11-29-2009 05:54 PM

better than nothing right? I've got nothing. lol. decent for the price?

I promise I'll stop the hack soon. lol.

bjohnson238 11-29-2009 05:58 PM

I think it was like $30 for a 4x6 roll. I have no idea how much the dyamat costs but I know other people have found other brands for pretty cheap. I would honestly invest in something better. But yeah, it is a lot better than nothing.

BTW, I had the notorious Hurst leak. Fixed it by making my own gaskets out of a gasket paper sheet and put black rtv on both sides of each gasket. Then, after that was fixed, my shift rail plugs leaked. Fixed that with some freeze plugs in place of the factory rubber plugs.

You need to add a breather somewhere. If you run it all sealed up for long enough it will start leaking somewhere.

Scrambler82 12-02-2009 07:40 AM

The twin Hurst Stick look great.

What did you do for the 4x4 Control cut down a regular shifter or buy one because it looks the right height ?

If you bought a new stick what number ?

What knob did you use ?

Look’n good

Downey 12-02-2009 09:04 AM

do you have pics of how you attached the hurst to the tcase shifter?

When it does start leaking again, I'll ad a breather. But for now, it's good.

I pulled the old 4x4 stick off and measured it, then went on summit and ordered one that length. Part # HUU-5387238. The knob is just a plain black one because I couldn't find a black one with the white 4x4 pattern. Part #
HUU-1637200.

I don't have pics of that and it's a pain to take the bezel screws out, but I just welded two plates to the shifter linkage and drilled holes in them to bolt the new stick in between them.Attachment 15389 Kinda like this crappy pic I drew on paint lol.

Fx4wannabe01 12-02-2009 09:26 PM

Hey Brian, when I was going to run that setup, I located a place that does custom shift balls in many colors and many patterns. Their knobs would exactly match the Hurst knob in size and font of engraving. Would you like a link? It may take me some time to find it.

bjohnson238 12-02-2009 09:30 PM

Yeah, if its not too much trouble, it's worth checking out. I'm fine the way it is. I think I know the pattern anyways lol.

Downey 12-02-2009 09:57 PM

i think i understand from your paint drawing i need to look at a linkage to really picture it. but if you dont mind i might copy your idea

bjohnson238 12-02-2009 10:00 PM

Yeah, it's cool. I'm used to people using my ideas, like Shelby using my 3 stripes lol.

Yeah. lol. It's not like you need any patterns for anything, I was just gonna do it for the looks. lol.

WHEN I get the lift in, and a few electrical items completed I was thinking about a manual T/C and that shifter picture just cured my wanting to look for the FX4 setup.

The pics of the shifter adapted to the existing linkage is a good idea.

Thanks,

bjohnson238 12-03-2009 09:53 AM

No problem. I may take a pic of the plates I welded on later today for you guys if I get bored enough.
