TALL drivers
I just bought a 2004 Ranger 2.3L that is in great condition. I previously had a 2002 F150 but the gas miliage was killing me. Its an awesome truck but being 6'-7" makes my head rub the roof a little too much.
My question is: Has anybody ever lowered their driver seat about 2"? Mine is a 60/40 bench seat so i assume its possible. I figured all I would have to do is cut the brackets...
Let me know if its possible or ever has been done? Some pictures would be great...
Thanks,
Carl

LOL. I put a sunroof in mine, ended up loosing head space!
Not sure how much you can get with cutting the brackets, but you can probably take some foam out of the bottom of the cushion and have the cover altered to fit.

i would do a custom headliner... take the hump out... or just sit more reclined with a gangsta lean... that's what i do, i'm 6'2"
my roommate drove my truck a couple days ago, he's 6'5" and he moved the seat forward and positioned it so it is up straight... don't know how he managed to do it...

For tall people read this
Comparing my 95 vs my 04 I can tell the seat height is about 1.5-2" lower in the 95. They bolt up the same I believe so an option might be getting the tracks off some gen3 seats.

About 4 years ago, a member named DJ Vegh (N74DV) posted some pictures of a cut and rewelded seat frame to lower the seat in his Ranger. It was either here or maybe on OffRoadRangers which has been down for months. I can't find the thread now and he is no longer active on R-F but I think you might be able to contact him anyway. Google his user name N74DV and you'll find it on some other non-Ranger forums.
Yea i'm 6'7" as well and I can't ride in the newer trucks very well at all. Thankfully my trucks has plenty of head room being a Gen II, but I have been in some never Rangers with explorer power seats that could lower down enough to make for a comfortable drive.
my 1st gen had a full length bench seat....
i had to take it out cause the wheel would rub my legs....ended up taking the bucket seats out of my grand am and welding them to angle iron on the floor. i found the perfect height using shims and once i did that, i permanently welded them to the floor pans. i couldn't slide the seats on the tracksbut i could still lean them back (a whole 2 inches) if i wanted
i basically customized the seats so i could fit (i'm 6' 3")

this thread makes me LOL
im 5'4'' and i made risers for my 60/40 when i installed it. the seat tracks were different because the seats were from a reg cab so i had to make a riser to make it sit level, so once i did that, i just added another 1.5" to the rear risers...

My gf is taller than me, i like it that way. shes 5'8'' and it puts me right at boob height
My advice is perhaps to find an older set of seats that are clean and swap them in. OR as others have mentioned, perhaps try modifying the seat brackets?
