OK so i went out to my truck last night to go to work, in the pouring rain....i started the truck ,and got myself organized, and turned around, and on each side of the sliding glass there was water drips, all down the back...so im like WTF! And start worrying that its the window seal.....as im driving i start to think of the 3rd brake light seal.....went to work and came home at 9am, and started checking it out....It rained all night, so i put a sweat shirt over the back seats to catch / soak up the water........I pull out the 3rd brake light to find that both the clear plastic sides where FULL of water!!........ I look in the hole to see my head liner on the backside (the cardboard) had water stains.... So that sucks big time! Im guessing that later on down the road since that glue got wet that the headliner is going to fall in a couple years...There was a couple small wet spots on the actual headliner, and its tan so that will REALLY suck if when it dries there are marks.... But just letting you all know to check out your 3rd brake light seals!!

PS its on an 03, thats why i was pissed, i bought a new truck so i wouldnt have these problems DAMN FORD!!!!

I'd sell it....
j/k - clean the seal real well and reinstall the CHMSL

if the seal is too flattened you might have to use some silicone
the foam seal can get dried out or falttened and not seal properly
idea is to have the foam seal to the truck and not necessarly flatten it all the way, do not overtighten it

 

what is CHMSL? Im guessing your talking about the 3rd brake light but what does it stand for? I put some "goop" stuff on it, clear, the gasket was flattened so that was probably the reason why it did it, So ill just have to see when it rains the next time if it does it or not...if it does then i will figure something else out, but i think it will seal it good...
