ive searched numerous seat threads and still confused.

I have a 2001 ranger edge reg cab. Has manual everything tan (cloth and viynal) 60/40 seat with armrest. Both seats are absolutely filthy and drivers side has about a 4"x8" patch missing down to the foam.

Ive read all 98+ ranger seats are the same or will fit with very minor mods at least

Ive heard 04+ rangers seat tracks are welded to seats. You can cut off the newer tracks and thread and bolt the old bolt on style on as the holes are already there just not tapped correct?

My 01's should be bolt on correct?

Ive also heard extended cab seats will not fit seat track wise to reg cab but can swap tracks and they will.

Anything else i should know? Id love to replace them with black n tan all black, or all tan again.

i know they use the super funky Etorx size bits right?

At least through '99, no torx bits holding the tracks to the body or the seats themselves. There is a torx bit for the seat belt anchor (50 or 55 IIRC), but it's not a security bit or anything uncommon.

Im still confused about this statement:
REG CAB SEATS BOLT INTO REG CAB TRUCKS X-CAB TO X-CAB IN ORDER TO PUT THESE SEATS IN A REG CAB YOU NEED TO USE 93-97 SEATS TRACKS ON THEM, X-CAB MAY OR MAY NOT BOLT RIGHT IN YOU MAY NEED TO ENLARGE A HOLE OR TWO

So for my reg cab 2001 if i find seats out of a lets say 2004 xcab i cant just swap my seat tracks around? I have to find 93-97 tracks to fit my 01?
