Description:

Hello all,
I am looking for a PCM from a defective car for my Ranger from 2000/2001. I want one from a car with V in the Vin to be able to convert to Flexfuel. Best would be one with original key and 2 locks.
I know you can find it on Ebay but some want 300$ freight :-((
Greetings from Germany

2000 Ranger 3.0l is much different than 2001 3.0l for Flex Fuel and transmissions
2000 used Flex Fuel sensor and 4R44E automatic
2001 didn't use/need Flex Fuel sensor and used the 5R44E automatic
Flex Fuel sensor was $650 if you can find one

5R44E has an extra sensor needed if you use a 2001 and up PCM

If you have a manual transmission then use any 2001 - 2003 Flex Fuel 3.0l PCM for conversion, no Flex Fuel sensor needed

Try https://www.car-part.com/

(skip areas)
Use Miami zipcode 33101(or any area of the US you want)
SEARCH

New window opens
Select Electronic Control Module, (RH rear firewall) 3.0l Flex Fuel
SEARCH

Need to match AT(automatic) or MT(manual) for what you have

Call/contact to see if they have matching key(s) and will ship to your location
You can get UPS or FedEx to pick up packages if they don't ship outside of US

There is an inexpensive software called Forscan that can clear old PATS keys and add 2 new ones, must have 2 keys minimum
Need a laptop/tablet and USB to OBD2 cable
Check out the Forscan Forum

Hello RonD ,
thank you for your comments . I have a 2000 Ranger from October 2000 and have been running E85 and E10 mixture for a while with no problems.
It is an automatic car but I don't know if it is a 4 or 5 speed as the previous owner changed the transmission.
Most of the dealers do not want to ship to Germany but I will try again.

Thanks for the instructions.

Greetings Olds1

Your truck is actually a 2001. July 2000 would have been when the factory was re-tooling for the 2001 model year, so a vehicle built in October 2000 is a 2001.

Do not source a computer from a vehicle built prior to/before August of 2000.

So you can use a 2001-2003 3.0l flex fuel computer, you have a 5R44E trans
Look on the back edge of drivers door for the Build label, take a picture of it, at the bottom will be TRANS, just under it a letter, T means 4R44E, D means 5R44E

No, most won't ship overseas but as said you can get UPS or FedEx to pick up a package anywhere and ship it to you
Any wrecking yard will package for shipping

Hello all,
today I wanted to exchange my "new" used PCM which was technically very fast. But unfortunately the keys can not be entered into the PATS.
I use Forscan with licenses but only one key is accepted but it remains locked when I turn it around nothing happens the starter does not turn.
can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what does not work.
The "new" one is a PCM from a 2002 Ranger with Flex Fuel engine which is what I wanted. It should be the last update from this series on it.

on the right is the original one from 2001

Greetings Olds1
