09 MN Winter Meet

09 MN Winter Meet
Well it seemed promissing at first, but was a total fail lol. It was about -5 and pretty windy. few people showed up, fun started, and then was cut short via the nice police men in the f-250. Matt got a wreckless for doing donuts on the ice, and the cops stayed until we left. The ice was really choppy with a few spots of deeper drifts that hadnt been hit yet. Better luck next year i guess, maybe in feb or march guys lol...think warmer!
I only managed to get a few pics before the meet was over, and one video. I was hoping for alot more. but i think others have a few more pics.
This video sums up the meet i think..

It was pretty damn cold out. One of these years it might be as cool as the 1st year again.
More on the ticket, so yeah, I was pretty much just pulling donut after donut. Having a good ol' time on the ice thinking nothing of. I see David (Ranger_guy) coming out on the ice so I figure I'll keep going. Sure enough as I come around again I see an F-250 kind of following him. So I think to myself "Cool we are getting a big truck to come play with us." Sure enough I whip around 1 more time and the F-250 has his cherries on. Ahh crap...
So I push the clutch, pull it out of gear. Cop walks over to the window, "License please. You know you can't do this out here. You can't do it on a road, you can't do it out here." I told him I didn't know that that normal traffic laws applied on a frozen lake (really wasn't trying to be a smart ***), and I actually didn't think it was illegal. But I know ignorance is no excuse.
Anyway, he goes back to his truck, writes up the ticket. After looking it over at home, it's actually a "Careless Driving" ticket (Ordinance 169.13.2) which last year was a $175 dollar fine (according to 2007 MN Traffic Fines). I'm going to go to court and explain the situation to the judge, and see what he says as I don't think I was endangering anyone, but according to the letter of the law I was breaking it.
Ahh well... no big deal I guess. No one hurt, so I can't complain too much. But it did pretty much kill the meet.
Matt (Malydeen), David (Ranger_Guy), Myself and Blhde (Forgot his name already) drove down to Pyscho Suzis afterwards for some pizza. Was pretty decent. No pictures from there, but yeah. Haha... we'll have to get something planned for the warmer stuff.
EDIT: Well here's the actual law... so I'm definitely guilty. I'm sub-division 2, with a add point of sub-division 3, point (a.1).

Unfortunately no. I was kind of off by myself at the time. That's probably why I was the only one to get a ticket actually. I think some of the other guys were off doing donuts behind all the cat-tails.

Glad you made it back Illinois in one piece Blhde. Nice meeting you. And I'm definitely going to keep you guys apprised of how the ticket goes. Everyone I have talked to has been just as amazed as I was that it's illegal to do that on a frozen lake. So yeah... I hoping the judge feels nice or at the very least cuts the fine way down.

There a great pic of our shining city. lol
I hope you had a good time up here. Too bad it was so fricken cold. And that Physco Suzi's place was pretty neat.

In the future that might be the plan, but this was our "3rd annual" meet. We've done this 3 years in a row now. In fact, I'm pretty sure we had a cop show up one previous year for awhile, but we were never ticketed (can't remember for sure). It's a lake that's pretty close to everyone and it isn't that deep so we know it freezes nice and solid.
