Icon10 ONTARIO -Summer meet. 2010

So i know that this is really really early to start getting ready for a summer meet but I don't want to run in to the same problems like we did this past December when we had the meet in Orillia with guys not being able to get time off work, could not afford it so on and so forth. So hopefully this will give guys more then enough time to plan and save up for the trip. So here is what I am thinking.

I was thinking we could do a camping/trail ride weekend. There is only 2 off road parks that I know of in Ontario, the first is the Ganeraska forest, which is located 1 hr east of Toronto , and about 30 min north of port hope, and costs about 45 for a weekend pass. But the trails we could do most of them in a afternoon. And then ther is the VMUTS. ( Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System. ) Now I will let you guys know right off the bat this is not a stock friendly trial system. So no 2wd. If you have a quad and want to bring it on to the trails you are more then welcome. This trail system is huge over 200 km of trail. Ranging from rough logging roads to rock cuts, wash outs, mud holes, you name it, the VMUTS has it. Plus there is a few different camping sites threw out the park. I have been threw this trail system both with my sled in the winter and on my quad in the spring and late fall. And these trails are awesome. Only down side is tho is that it is in Mattawa, Ontario. which is at the north eastern most part of Algonquin park. Here is a map of the trail system, it is not the best but it will give you a idea of how big it is. VMUTS Trail Map.

So here is what I am thinking. We leave on a friday night and head to Mattawa. Crash at the hotel in town and then get a early start on the trails the following Saturday morning. Camp out Saturday night in the Vmuts and then Sunday we could eather do some more wheeling and then stay a night in the hotel again, Or do some light wheeling and then head home Sunday night. Trail pass is 12 bucks a day, Let me know what you guys think. I know Pawel ( Lumpy4000 ) said he is game. So post what you guys thinking. As for dates for this. I was thinking end of July early August. Mainly because I am in New Brunswick and that is when I will be back in Ontario for summer vacation.

Also I have a buddy who lives in Mattawa who says he will be more then willing to be our trail guide. As long as he is not overseas.

Cheers
Chris

If you have a lifted 2wd you will be good. But i did not think anyone would lift a 2wd truck.

When I say not stock friendly I mean none stock hight friendly. So if you are 2wd and are lifted then you will be ok. You will still have a hard time in some spots but you should be ok for the most part.

Ok how about this then. If you are stock hight you will not make it any. LOL. But seriously there is alot of long hills. So 4wd is a definite bonus if you want to come.

Just remember Derek, if you bring your quad, you half to pack your camping equipment, food, cloths. water, and some fuel just in case. unless you are going to crash at the hotel every night.

I know i am going to sound like a *** Derek but you will not be able to go anywhere in your truck. If you are lifted then you will still have a hard time, but you will be able to go places. but stock will get you no were.

Sorry just telling you how it is man. These trails are really tough and tricky in spots.
