2.3 to 4.0 swap?
2.3 to 4.0 swap?
I just got a 2000 or prior 4.0 V-6 engine. Since the 2.3 in my 1993 Ranger isn't running very well I am thinking of a swap with a 4.0. First thing I am questioning is the bell housing bolt pattern, if it's the same or not? My Ranger is just your run of the mill 4x2 w/ manual 5 speed trans. I'm thinking of giving it when it's done to my grandson since he just turned 16, although he's 6'3 & it might be a tight squeze for him.
Bellhousing pattern is different, so you'll need a different transmission.
Also, I'm about the same height as your grandson. I just did a clutch on a 1995 regular cab Ranger. I didn't fit very well in it and found it uncomfortable.
I daily a 2003 extended cab and it works just fine for me without feeling uncomfortable. If the truck is a Supercab, he'll be fine.
