2.5 Lima Project (pics and goals)
2000 XLT 2.5 2wd 5 Speed aprox.180k miles
All of the damage and Mods are from previous owners. I have strictly been working on maintenance items since I bought it. For $800 I cant complain.
The Damage is from a fisherman sliding downhill into a tree. The undercoating, tint, cherrybomb, and CAI are from a friend I bought it off of.
170k loving miles
Cherry Bomb
Rattle Can Rust Prevention
2.5 Lima
Rust Converter with Ruat Encapsulated treatment (rustoleum)
Big ol dent from sliding into a tree
So far the truck has New:
Tires
Battery
Tailgate Handle
Differential Cover
Drain Plug
Ignition Spark plugs and wires (I left the exhaust side as well... crunchy lol)
IACV
Coolant Temp Switch
Some odds and ends on the front suspension
Fuel Purge Solenoid
Clutch
all of the fluids are flushed besides transmission
Coolant Switch
Rotted EGR lines
New IACV
Finish ironing out some things
Work in progress:
Fuel tank will not accept new fuel without fighting. Suspect bad filler neck
Fuel Lines (gonna try to do this and the fuel pump in one go. Fuel pump isn't bad but... 20 years of who knows service id rather safe than sorry it)
Rear Drums (mostly because I have no clue how old they are and don't hold as well as I'd like)
Dash lighting (few bulbs are shot)
timing belt/water pump/thermostat
Rear Shocks (cause they are gone)
bushings all around
A/C (early stage troubleshooting but the compressor clutch assembly seems shot)
Window seals and door seals sheesh they are bad
headliner and some new seats.
motor mounts
I'm not looking to make it into a show truck or an offroader. But I'm aiming for something between nice daily and work truck. Once the maintenance items are complete I'm gonna push for some cosmetic upgrades.
obviously the body work goes without saying
New Din. Some of the newer touchscreens will fit nicely and come with Bluetooth and Backup camera (lol not that back up camera is needed for a regular cab but still. I do haul quite a bit)
Upgrade to Edge era Hood and Mirrors.
And potentially a small lowering and leveling kit. I was thinking 2inches lower tops.
Thats all for now. Look forward to seeing you all around!

A running and driving truck for $800, damn good find.
One thing I personally would do is get rid of that aftermarket "HOT AIR INTAKE"
The HOT under hood air you're now getting from behind the radiator is not as good as the colder air you get from behind the grill but in front of the radiator.
The factory installed CAI that came on the truck will give you better gas mileage and better performance, finding a complete stock air intake may be a problem.
