86 Ranger STX

Hello my name is A.C.
Four years ago we got rid of our 2 cars and started riding bicycles to and from work and for small grocery shops. Even made it to Lowes once and picked up 9 cinder blocks that I placed on a homemade trailer, that broke as I got to my driveway, lol.
Earlier today, after some himmin' and hawin', I convinced myself to go look at a 1986 Ranger STX for sale that I was convinced I was only going to look at because I said I would come out and didn't want to break my word. Let's say 50/50. As soon as I got there things started looking up. After I short test drive I ended up purchasing it for $2200. I think I made a good deal. The gentleman said he replaced the original siezed engine with another 2.9l, unknown year, and had some other work done, with receipts for it all.
So far I'm pretty stoked, but I have a few concerns. All in all, if I get 6 months out of it I'll feel like I got my money's worth, but I hope to get many years out of it.
Nice looking truck, decent paint, good power, A/C doesn't work, but I'm OK with that, intermittent wipers don't work, I wish they did. I think it's about what you'd expect for a 37 year old truck. Still not sure if it's an actual STX model, but I'm pretty confident, I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if it wasn't, but it's a cool little plus if it is.

Nice looking truck.

According to the sales brochure for 1986, Bucket seats, and 15" tires on a RWD were standard equipment and only available on a STX.

So if you have Bucket seats and 15" tires, I'd agree, it's a STX

Thanks. I do like it a lot so far. Pretty good condition, interior is great for 37 years old, no wear or tears, I'm guessing no smoker only because the ashtray looks untouched.

After some looking over the brochure(thank you for pointing brochures out) it seems the STX comes with both 14s or 15s, unless it's a typo in the brochure I'm seeing. After going through that brochure extensively I'm going with it's an STX. Comes with the exact size tire the brochure says, AM/FM Cassette with premium controls, which seem to be available to the STX and XLT, red cloth bucket seats. Every option I have is available to the STX, but not exclusive of all other models.
