98 Ranger - rear diff replace hand pump/fluid

Just purchased the truck - have no history on the maint. Ideas on where I can get the $6/7 sunction pump. I've asked around - nobody has one. I've spent a lot of $$$ getting the truck fixed and serviced. No idea on what is in the rear diff. I was told the front diff is OK. Does it need the friction modifier also? Where can purchase that (O'reilly etc?).
Thanks..

I would just take the differential cover off and drain it that way. Then just put it back on with some oil resistant RTV silicone gasket maker. You will need to use a friction modifier if your truck has a limited slip unit. Or, you can buy synthetic gear oil. Synthetic gear oil, like Royal Purple, doesn’t require any additional additives. And, yes, it can be bought at O'Reilly's.

Funny enough, most pet shops or vetrenairy supply places have them. All they are is a syringe. Get a bit of clear tubing that fits over the end, and presto!
