Another FNG - New owner of a well used 93 2wd XLT
So, I needed a truck and after going through so many cl ads that I couldn’t see straight, I finally settled on a guy selling a 2wd 93 ford ranger XLT 5 speed, runs good, ac, smogged, needs battery for 1700.
Went out and it ran well after we popped it off. It didn’t have ac, the dash and both front and back windows were badly cracked, the interior was dirty and smelled of gear oil but it shifted well and for a 2.3 it had a good amount of power. Had smog cert within the last 90 days, and the hood was bungeed (no hood latch). Worked out a deal and got it for 1150.
2 days later, had to smog it again (Cert was from 6/22/09 and I didn’t notice, my bad) had to replace a 200.00 filer neck hose to smog it, had to replace the starter and the shifter keeps hanging up when trying to push it over into first after being in reverse.
Still the engine is strong, the body is straight and with some work it could be a nice truck. Now I just have to add A/C by next summer, swap out the dash, check and see if it’s the shifter bushing, put in bucket seats, swap the interior, redo the headliner, maybe add power windows and locks, and do a roll on bed liner. Also might put disc rear brakes after reading rear disc brake post.
You got a great site here and I look forward to being part of it.
