Art from Independence
Hi Everyone,
I plan on buying a new Ranger at the end of this year. I will primarily use it to haul fire wood and transport my wife, dog, and me with a shell camper for trips. Does the four cylinder with an automatic transmission have sufficient power for such trips. I really like the miles per gallon of the 4 cylinder but want enough power for commuting, hauling wood, and camping. 4 cylinders with manual transmissions are hard to find in the XLT extended cab version in southern California and as I am getting older the automatic might be the most practical for me. Responses to this inquiry will be most appreciated.

I forgot to introduce myself in the earlier post. I live in Independence, CA which has a population of approximately 500. I am retired and have had two Rangers which were both swell trouble free vehicles. I am getting ready to buy a new one and am thinking of a four cylinder with auto trans. How is it for general travel and hauling firewood? I will not pulling a trailer. Mainly will be used for camping, firewood, and general travel. Is the real mpg that much better than the 4.0? Thanks in advance.
