Brand spankin new

Hi everybody!
A little about me:
-Alexander
-26
-Livin in Cali

My truck:
Bone stock 1997 Ford Ranger, 3.0l, 2wd, Supercab

Planning on modding it into a 1450/Prerunner as my skills increase.
Gotta crawl before I walk...

I'm short on funds right now, so my first task is going to be get under the hood and start cleaning, make sure it's running at 100%.
The odo reads about 95k right now, so I'm concerned about the camshaft position sensor. Would it be worth my while to replace it before it starts acting up?
