CDA, Idaho guy with diesel ranger!
Hey guys,
I swapped a cummins engine from an asphalt paver into my 93 ranger a little while ago. And I don't regret it one bit. You guys think a 4.0 will move one of these trucks around alright? I "down-graded" to a 3.9 liter 4 cylinder and now high twenties mpg are easily attainable. It's far from gutless too. Stock it had 325 fl-bs at 1400 rpm. Now it is FAR from stock. LOL. Anyway, here's some pics.

I have a ZF5 and an NP205
Here's the new and the old:

Took a bit of work but the ZF fit (snugly):

I have already busted the ZF once.

More pics of the swap.
Here's the cummins beside some 4.0's:

Blue ranger with blown up 4.0 gets the good 4.0 from the green ranger, which gets a "slightly" modified turbo diesel cummins:

Among other things the oil pan had to be fixed with a welder and grinder so as to clear the crossmember:

.020 oversize low compression marine pistons into the cummins:

Mustang aftercooler:

4000 rpm governor springs to replace the 2200 rpm ones:

Heavy duty valve springs:

Thanks all! Glad you like.
When I registered and insured it, they asked what engine. I told them a diesel. They didn't know what to do. But they were cool with it. Wanted to know if it was hot-rodded? And at the time I was able to look them in the eye and say without a guilty conscience, "no." Getting more power out of this was as simple for me as grinding a plate. And adjusting some stuff. Now is that really hotrodding?
