Ford Wiper Problem

Having an issue with the 2005 Ford Ranger where the windshield washer turns it self on randomly. This morning when i started the truck and turned on the lights the washes came on also. I hammer the end of the multi function control and they stop.

Later on the ride to work they just came on again. Any ideas
