Been a member since July when I bought my truck. Gotten some useful information from the site so far. Figured I'd introduce myself. I've got a 97 xlt reg cab RWD 2.3L. It's not much but it's gets me to where I need to go and back and I love it.

Just put a set of 31's on last night. Only problem I've having now is the speedo. Anyone in the Green Bay or Appleton area have a tuner they can use to help me get it calibrated properly?

Think I got my speedo figured out. Ordered a new gear for the speed sensor in the transmission. Should be in at the dealership tomorrow or Sat so I can check it out. Also raising the front end and replacing the ball joints before I get an alignment.

 

Question:

In your picture, the front tire looks awfully close to the fender. Do you have any rubbing issues?

 

Just put the tires on Monday night, checked for clearance lock to lock and all was clear. Haven't had any issues with it rubbing from bumps or anything either yet. I'll be putting some spring spacers and new shocks up front this weekend so there should be more clearance. I'll put up an after photo when the work is done.

I see you're also a VW guy, my other car is an 87 GTI 16v. Just finished cleaning/painting the engine bay and got it running again tonight finally. Real excited to be driving it again, been down for close to a year now.

 

Got the new ball joints in and the lift installed now, I'm just waiting on some adjustable camber bushings so I can get the camber set properly with the alignment... Looks much better already though!

This is how it's sitting currently. I'm in the market for a new set of wheels and working on some rust repair on a few body panels and the rear arches before a fresh coat of paint. Previous owner rattle canned it and it's not holding up at all.
