Icon7 Greetings,

Greetings,
New to the net is my problem child and I. The problem child is a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT single cab with 4 wheel drive, 4.0 V6, auto trans and all stock, along with it's aluminum stock 15" rims. Has a one piece fiberglass tonneau cover painted to match its willow green color. Found this child being kept in a garage, most of it's life with 60,012 miles on his odometer. After having him for about three weeks now, I'm finding that he has all the growing pains of, seems like, a lot of Ford Rangers. Vibration above 60 mph, and a death wobble at 45 mph on a 50 mph curve, even after hours of work and cash fed into, brakes, ball joints, tie rod ends, and other front end parts. Now it seems to be locked in 4wheel drive. At least the air conditioning still works.

If its a 97, its old style hub 4x4. If its locked in, you'll hear the front driveshaft turning. however, it usually isn't a hub problem, might be your transfer case. its electronic, so see if you can pick up a different switch first and try that.
