Greetings all

Where to start? Let's see I live in the southern coal fields of WV. My previous Ranger lasted me 10 years and I currently have a 2004 Black XLT 3.0L V6 and a 3.73 (I think) rear end 2 wheel drive regular cab with black and tan interior. This truck came with smoke colored window vent covers. You know the things that let you crack the windows open without getting drowned in the rain. It came with a bug guard and some strange stripes that was put on at the lot. I had the windows tinted and step bars on the side at my wife's urging. I was going to trade it but I only owe less than $3k and it has 25,000 miles on it so I plan on keeping it. Within the next couple of months I plan on have this stereo installed http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...mier/FH-P800BT

Since I am work I can't post pics so I will later tonight or tomorrow (once I read how to). I was thinking about new rims with wider tires if possible without too many mods (I'm not real mechanically inclined). Then maybe some LED Brakelights and LED 3rd light and HID headlights. The wife is going to kill me. Interior later when I figure out what I want it to look like.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Well somehow I managed to get them up in the Test section. So you may want to look there. No idea what's up with that. I couldn't get them up here.

If you start a photobucket account you can upload them there and link them.

Thanks the wife uses Flickr. I may have to do a Photobuket Acct.

I would like some peoples opinions about the truck before I start suggesting stuff.

No wait I'll do it now.

LED tail lights and LED 3rd brakelight both smokey or black. I want HID headlights and black rims with chrome edges and chrome center caps. I would love to go with bigger tires but according to what all I've read 16 inch tires won't work on mine. If I'm wrong just point me in that direction.

Thanksfor looking and the help.

You can run any size rim you want up to a 20", all that really matters is that you keep the tire size to 27" until you lift, or under 26" if you lower.

If you use 16" tires you will have to buy 16" wheels, the ones you have are 15" inches. Just an FYI, tires for 16" wheels are more expensive than tires for 15" wheels.

Are you talking about measuring across the tire? I need a primer on tires. I don't mind larger tires I just don't want them sticking out past the fenders.

BTW I was looking at these rims

To disect tire sizes:

275 / 55 -15
Tire width(mm)/Aspect Ratio(%)-Rim Size(in)

Your tire width is measured from side wall to side wall, and may not be how much tread actually touches the ground.
The aspect ratio is width to sidewall hight. So a 275/55 would have a side wall that is 55% of the 275 width, or 151.25mm off the rim.

So, to bring this all together that tire would be 275mm or 10.82" wide, have a side wall of 151.25mm or 5.95", and have an over all hight of 2*sidewall+rim size, or 2(5.95)+15, which =26.9", or a 27" tire.
Does this help?

I may be wrongbut you have the 15x8 rims now if you went with a 15x10 rim and put on a tire that was say 265/75/15 you wuld probbaly stick out some past the denders

Well let's see those rims come in the following sizes 15*8, 15*10, 16*8 and 16*10. My current tires are 225/70R 15.

Oops gotta run work is calling when I get a break I look at it closer. I just don't want tires that stick out way, way past the fenders. No offense to those that have them that way. It's not my cup of tea (really that is Crown and coke).

Thanks for the help. I'm so new at this stuff and it is fun learning at nearly 40 years old.

I got 265/75/16's on 16x8 and they stick out even with the fender flares.
If I didnt have the flares theywouldstickout about 1" approximately
