new from connecticut
hey guys whats up im sam, im from ct. i just picked up an 04 ranger with 28k on it and im interested in learning a bit about it. im no stranger to cars, i also own a 1990 mustang gt that is slow, a 72 gmc k2500 that is stock, and a 94 f150 straight tower of power that i would someday like to turn into a real beast. right now the ranger is my dd, its got some work done to it, 2" body lift, flowmaster, and a skid plate. but its never been wheeled so its a very clean truck. anyways, heres a pic of my junk and im sure i'll be talking to you all soon. thanks

heres a pic of it when its put together, it was pretty much stock this past year and was my dd through school with my 150 as the winter/rain vehicle. but now im making some money so the mustang is getting all the attention. im shooting for mid-low twelves with my new setup this coming year, and a DIY turbo build is in the works for next winter.
and here i am working on it about 3 weeks ago...

well im back again, had serious problems with the old ranger.
This past spring, i bought the red 2004 ford ranger xlt from a local ford dealership. it had 28,000 miles on it, was super clean and just what i wanted, for $12500 it seemed like the perfect truck for me. I bought it and paid in full.
After buying the truck, i kept noticing that after light rain the drivers side carpet would get damp. I immediately called the sales rep i bought the truck from and told him it was going to need new weather-stripping and that i would schedule an appointment. I let it go for one or two storms before i figured out that it was definitely leaking. I called the service department and scheduled an appointment. They took the truck in, had it for a week, changed the weather-stripping, and charged me $500 for service and parts. I paid in full and took my truck back.
The next time it rained, the truck leaked again... worse now than before. Again, called, made an appointment, truck went in for a few days, got it back with a claim that the leak was found and new parts were put in...
After about the 3rd or 4th visit, i started getting irritated. On an afternoon where it was raining i stripped the interior of the truck myself and ran a garden hose over the drivers side door, mind you this was a day after they swore up and down that the problem was fixed and the cabin was pressure tested. I found an exact point where water was coming in under the drivers side door near the kick panel. It wasnt just drips, Im talking a steady stream of water coming into my truck.
Again i brought the truck to the dealership, personally showed a tech where the water was entering the cab, and explained my theory on how water was getting in. Again, they took it for another week, replaced more parts, and again promised that it was fixed.
This went on for the whole summer, the truck went in to the dealership's service department at least 6 times over the summer. They replaced the drivers side weather-stripping twice, the windshield, the "drains in the drivers door," the shifter bezel, and the drivers side mirror...
well finally they gave up on my poor truck and offered me a deal on a new truck, i kicked around with buying a beautiful powerstroke for a few weeks and then finally decided to break even and picked up an 06 ranger xlt with 30k, its pretty much the same thing only its dark shadow grey and bone stock...
my plans for it are to do another 3" body lift and some big tires like the old truck. can anyone point me in the right direction for body lift kits for an 06 XLT? what will i have to do with my tow hooks?
oh yeah, the mustang is almost done, still slow. i dont have any pics of the new ranger ill upload them asap.
