Icon7 Hello Another New Dude

I just today, purchased a 2002 Ranger XLT. I drove it home about 50 miles away. It ran pretty good.. I noticed it seemed to be running a little warmer then I am used to seeing, 3/4 mark? I will get into that later! This is my 90 car I have owned. Actually first truck! I am very pleased with what I have to work with. Compared to all of what I looked at, this a creampuff. New motor 50,000 imiles.

Is there anybody out there older who still loves working on their own stuff? I am 77 years old! I can remember the first car I ever id anything on. Valve job 55 Olds 88 2dr Hardtop.
I have had a few setbacks over the years, one of which, I lost my sight in one eye, due to a stroke, yuk! It set me for a loop. But I still can see good enough to do what I need to do. It is a real challenge, But who does not love a good challenge?
I presently live in Ga, I have lived in Calif, Kansas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Colorado most of my adult life.
well here I am folks, for what is worth. I have forgotten most of what I ever learned about cars, and trucks!
See ya around!

Welcome! Sounds like a good truck! I do all of my own work on all three of my trucks and intend to do so until I'm no longer on this earth. We'll see what happens.

Say hey VKRay

I'm with ya. I used to be able to pop the distributor cap on my 1600cc '72 Pinto ( long time Blue Oval guy here ), replace points, condenser and rotor; loosen the bolt(s) at the base of the distributor; twist it back and forth until it ran the smoothest, and tighten bolt(s) back down. Tune up done, timing set.
You'll love that truck. I'm on my 2nd Ranger. 325,000 on the first one (with heart / lung transplant), 167,000 on the current one.
