Hello From Buffalo, NY
Hello From Buffalo, NY
No laughing.
I've been scoping out a few Ranger sites and this one looks to be the place to hang out.
I just purchased a "new" used 04 Ranger XLT V6 4.0l 4x4. This isn't my first truck, but if count a beat up 93 F-150 rust bucket I had for eight months, then I guess that would make this my second.
While I'm relatively new to modding trucks, I've been playing around with my traded-in Mustang for 11 years up until now. I used to do technical how-to articles over on Stangnet for a couple of years, so I hope to learn much from you guys, and in turn, be of assistance to others in time.
My "new" truck in is in awesome shape for being an 04, however I first need to start making improvements to the interior first; creature comforts come first before Sky Jacker lift kits and monster tires! First up is converting the manual locks and windows to electric and keyless entry. Fill in those stock foglight holes with OEM.
Future mods are a crap-load of off road driving lights and the required bars, but I haven't made a decision on where to put the three switches for them. I'm thinking about modifying an Explorer or some other after-market/other vehicle roof console. We'll see though as I can't justify just putting in some switches into something like that if it isn't necessary.
Something I've been kicking around is the interior lighting in regard to LED spot lights, which then it may be required for the roof console. We'll see...
As I progress, I'll post how I did it and the results, perhaps ask a few questions along the way.
I hope to get to know you all better as I go. Almost forgot, someone tell me whe it will stop SNOWING here!

Here's my setup:

I mounted my switches to the right of my headlight switch:

Have fun!!
Sorry so late to respond, but life has been hectic lately....
Melt: No, I haven't seen him cruising around, but I do have some OEM Chrome Pony 5-spokes. Don't think I'll be mounting those on the truck tho!
platinum6316: Thanks for the link. I'll probably go with a safari A-bar though. It may be a truck, but I'd still like a little bling! I think that is where I'm going to settle on lights as well. Three toggles, stock fogs (not included on truck, safari, and off-road over heads).
I was leaning toward something like these for switches:
LED Illuminated 12 Volt Round Rocker Switch
Wire Terminals, Automotive Wire, Battery Terminals & Electrical Supplies
$5/ea.
I still have to look at their ratings to make sure they don't end up melting the dashboard on me. Driving while having your face licked by flames can be a bad thing!
Has anyone any thoughts on the below products as far as quality goes for use in salt-covered Buffalo?
One last question... How are the automatic trannies in the 04 4x4's? I ask this because my Mustang's was starting to get sloppy on me until I installed a TransGo shift kit, which not only took care of all the shavings and particles in the tranny pan, but allowed me to start chirping the tires going from 2nd to 3rd.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts and advice!
