Hello from Marko

I just purchased my second Ranger, a 2008 XL 2.3 regular cab 6' bed. It has 34,000 miles. First owner was my 88 YO father in law. It is currently being painted and getting bed liner. I also have a canopy. Next week I will put in a Crutchfield JVC sound system which shipped today.

I an retired and live near Seattle, Wa. Thanks for providing this great resource, I already got some good tech information about wiring rear speakers.

Hey there Marko.
I am near Seattle, and am about to get my Ranger painted its same color. Just wondering what you'll be paying for your paint job. Are you painting the canopy as well?

I got it painted at maaco on south hill Puyallup. They did a nice job. I also had them spray a decent bedliner. I painted because there were deep scratches on both sides, full length that were covered with rattle can white ... It looked pretty bad. They sanded out all the scratches, fixed some small dents and dings, bed liner and polyurethane paint for $1325 plus tax. I am happy with the work they did, it looks like a brand new truck. Maaco gets a lot of bad reviews but I believe I got more than my money's worth. I have other friends that were also satisfied with their work, that us why I decided to try it. The manager I worked with there was Tony, he was great to work with. The deal was for their "fleet" paint job with does not include a warranty, but Tony assured me if there were any problems they would stand by their work. I felt that this was a good option for a low cost truck, I could not see dropping 3k or more on a paint job and repair. I did not paint the canopy since it is already matching white.

Sounds like you did well. Thanks for the details. I'll look up Tony if the deal I have falls through -- a one-man shop who will do my 93 and canopy for $1200. I've seen some of his work, and it looks very good to my eye. Currently I'm learning as much as about materials and technique so as to hold him to a high standard (though it doesn't have to be perfect).
