Why a manual, do you need to learn a stick to expand your job opportunities ?
Be gentle with it, when shifting up, just don't ram it in, give a slight pause in neutral between shifts so the synchro's have a chance to do their job.
In a world of automatics, you're not going to win any races at the green light.

EDIT:
And a rare truck, 2.3 litre that's a 4x4...
