Hello people
Hello people
I've come to this forum because a few months ago I bought a Ford Ranger.
I'm from the UK and my Ranger is a 2015 (pre face lift) base model with a 2.2 TDCI and 6 speed gearbox. Is has the tall Truckman hard top on it, making it looks like a snail, so it has been named Brian (Magic Roundabout reference). I bought the vehicle, ex-forestry commission, in an auction at an advantageous price. Auctions are always a bit of a gamble, but I've been lucky with this one.
Being ex-forestry commission, it had been used quite hard and has many battle scars from the forestry tracks it lived its ten years on. The up-side, being used on forestry tracks, the chassis/suspension/axle/lower body has not been ravaged by road salt. A comprehensive pressure washing and a spray with lanoguard and I declare myself very happy with the condition of the underside.
One problem I had was the DPF wasn't regenerating. Paid a small fortune for a franchised mobile 'specialist' to fix. After the introduction of a cleaning foam and running the engine at 3000rpm for 25 minutes, the DTC was cleared and the light stayed off. "Phew, dodged the bullet of a new DPF". About 18 miles later the fault light came on again. Decided to learn a bit about DPFs (YT's O'Rileys Autos) and thought I can do that. Some DPF cleaner, a DPF temperature sensor (one of the wires to it was broken) and a bit of work later, I've done 400-500 miles with no light coming on as the DPF is regenerating (was it caused by the temp sensor?).
I'm sure I'll have some questions as the TCS light is coming on occasionally and ForScan says its the steering position sensor. I recalibrated it last night, so hopefully it won't return.
I bought the Ranger to tow a trailer with and not have those pesky LED headlights blind me as much at night. Thoroughly enjoying driving it.
Why "Green", because that's the colour the Forestry Commission paint their vehicles.
