Hello from Texas
Well, I am a proud owner of a 2000 Ranger 4x4..
Just rebuilt the motor and replaced all the sensors.. WOW! what an undertaking.. But,
it is all coming along very nicely. Glad this site is here. I am sure I will have questions and comments..

Well, funny story really. This motor has about 180k on it. The oil gauge started moving up and down.. So.. I replaced the oil pressure sensor.. All was good for about 2 months. Then it started again.. on a return trip.. from a near by town ( On my birthday ). about 60 miles.. about 5 miles out the gauge quit again.. Of course I was like.. crap that sensor went out again.. about 1/2 mile from the house.. TICK TICK TICK.. grrr.. not the sensor.. it was the oil pump. and now I had a lifter / pushrod / rocker bad.. Was for sure top end..
Well. Since I knew it was the oil pump that had to be out. I was concerned on damage to the rest of the motor.. So, I decided to rebuild the engine from ground up. Best way to make sure long life :)
Well come to find out.. master rebuild kits are over $1000 .. WOW.. and by the time I did the block work .. Head work.. I would be up around 1800 or so.. Well I found a long block from ATK For $2000..
Figured ok.. I don't have to deal with the lower end for $200 .. Works for me..
I work 2 jobs and really don't have the time to deal with the lower end and running back and forth to a machine shop.
Within a few days the new motor arrived.. I started the work and took 3 days off to do this engine swap..
Then the fun began.. I never realized just how much crtap you have to remove to pull the engine.. 3 days later.. I got the engine pulled.. putting in 12 hour days.. geesh.. But, I took my time and cleaned and replaced any part that needed to be replaced. New injectors / New sensors / New fan blade / new radiator / New hosed / New belts.. Think you get the idea.. IT's all pretty much new.. LOL..
Well.. fired it up last night for the first. time.. WOW it runs nice.. But, one of the freaking lifters is ticking.. So going through that issue... :( I really don't want to pull all that crap off again.. plus heads to fix a lifter.. what a pain.. Guess we will see.
Thanks for warm welcome by the way..
