Here I go...Hello

Well,

Let me start with, I think the Ford Ranger is the best truck around. I gave my 1991 Ranger away with 400K miles on it and the kid is still driving it after 2 years. Simply amazing reliability !!

I now have my son's old 2000 Ranger. It has had some issues and has 290K miles on it. I am here because...as happens to me mostly at this stage of the game...If I can't fix it...it is difficult. I tend to change a couple of parts based on troubleshooting, the I get serious and begin taking things apart and checking them all.

I do have a story I'll post in the appropriate location.

I live in Pearl River, LA am a Machinist by trade and mechanic by necessity...plus it is fun and satisfying.

I'm sure I'llI learn allot of stuff and provide interesting stories for all to read. That's just how my life goes. :D

Cheers,
Gene

Thanks for the Welcomes.... :)

It was the 4 cyl. dual plug. It was a great truck for me. I had 170PSI on every cylinder when I quite driving it to work. It was driveability issues that finally made me sideline the truck. I just couldn't figure out why it was lacking power up above 70mph and I had steering issues (slack and I changed everything, even took the column apart and replaced the steering box 5 times). I think the kid found something I couldn't, his grandpa is a mechanic.

The kid doesn't have allot of funds he just drives the truck. He said the valves are clattering. It'd be a cheap fix but he is looking at another vehicle. I think he is going to give that one to his brother. Who knows, I might pay for the parts and let his brother do some work for me around the house. Painting or something.

Cheers,
Gene
