Here in Portland, OR
My name is Mike and i've bought this 2000 Ranger 4.0L OHV back in 2007. Previous owner pulled 22'-24' travel trailers up to 70K miles...I put another 85K over the years. so 155K on this engine.
As usual, I come to this site to help me with issues.
Ticking from engine...possibly timing chain guides or internals like rocker arms, lifters etc. Engine runs with power, doesn't overheat, no warning lights, doesn't throw codes.
1) Changed the oil sensor and it was bouncing and bottoming.
2) Changed Belt Pulley back in 2008 due to squeaking [bad bearing]
3) Rebuild transmission in 2019
Sitting right now, and since I'm not much of a mechanic..may take it to a shop. [or attempt a repair without pulling out the engine].
I also own a 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L with 136K miles which runs great but not much power behind it. Great work truck
Hope to learn important things from you good people.
Mike
