I'm stuck frozen here in Illinois, my niece works for Disney and we're hoping to get down there in April for a week. I hope we can get to visit a R/F get-together in sunny Florida then. But I don't think I can get my XLT in my carry on. Great shine coming off that mirrored black paint!!! What do you use? The Cuda, work in progress or closed to where you want it? I got an 89 Mustang GT convertible I'm just about ready to stop giving my paycheck to.

Jrevans2002- Right now i got Mothers Califonia Glod wax on it, but im a Meguiers fan and mainly use their products. I try to wash it astleast one a week. You can't tell in the pics, but the paint is actually pretty bad.

The Cuda is mostly my dad's. It was a heap of junk when he brought it home when i was four. He did an awesome job restoring it and he got me into cars. A true project is never finished though. We want to keep it as original as possible but are thinking some bolt on parts can't hurt. Might add a blower in the future.

I used to have a Mustang. My first car. Loved it to death, then got in a horrible accident. But if it wasn't for that i would'nt have my Ranger now. Lol.

Herm59- I'm from Lacey, Lanoka Harbor to be presice. I see you're from Toms River so you'll actually know where that is. Lol. I use to hang out on 37 all the time.

I wear glasses but I didn't need them for the shine off that fender...I got hooked on Liquid Luster at a Chicago Auto Show a dozen or so years ago. And about 7 years ago bought my first clay bar (Blue Magic) It adds allot more time to a detail but its worth it. Try it before you look into a paint job. Thats the way I'm headed with my GT, as it left the factory. I took off that non-functional luggage rack for a after market trunk lid and spoiler with a l.e.d. third brake light in it. Its stock under the hood and inside as well. There was some much needed suspension and brake upgrades, I had hoped I could finished it over the winter. I think the ground hog helped me out with that. I've tried clay bar, i can get the paint as smooth as glass but still has so many water spots no matter what. Not to mention the little chips and scratches that won't go away. The paint job is a loong way off though, so i work with what i have as best i can.

 

maybe try wet sanding. BUT TRY WITH A JUNK YARD PIECE FIRST until you get the hang of it

 

It doesn't take much now a days to spoil the shine. I had a 96 Grand Marquis and I was taking some 2 X 6's to my dads. Didn't scratch the roof at all but my knuckles put three small dimples into the metal where my back of my hands laid on the roof....If l had my Ranger then it would not of happened.....I would try some buffing compound to a very small area of the water spots. Most water spots are cause by chemicals in the air (acid rain) and get below the clear coat.
