Hey Guys - '02 Ranger Edge 4x4
Hey guys. My name's Matt and I'm 16 years old. I live in Northwestern Connecticut, yes Connecticut. I looked at your forum before I bought my first vehicle. I was looking into Ford Rangers because I have always loved them but I was looking at your forums for known issues with them I really like how you guys did things so I joined up. My truck is a 2002 Ranger Edge 4x4 4.0L V6. It has a K&N CAI. Don't worry though, the intake was in there when I bought it. I learned quick from these forums that Rangers come with great stock intakes and the best bet is to go with a K&N drop in with an airbox mod, but oh well. It was in there when I bought it so doesn't make a difference to me. The truck has 55,000 miles and cost me $7,500. I checked it out and inspected it for 2 weeks before buying it and did all the research I could. These forums really helped me out with my decision. I am a training mechanic right now but I actually want to become an Automotive Engineer. I have some pictures of my truck if you guys would like to see it. I actually did a stupid teenager move and burned the brand new tires off my truck. No worry though, they were only Dunlop Grand Treks. Now I have Destination A/T's. I'll post some pictures of the burnt tire too haha. Well I'm happy to be on these forums with you guys, you seem like a great bunch of guys. The only question I would like to ask is, what problems/issues should I expect on my truck? Thanks a lot guys, you're all awesome.

Hmm well thanks a lot guys 33's would be perfect. Any problems that I should be aware of? I looked into the timing chain problem and that one seems major but any other little things? I'm going to change the oil and do the plugs and wires. Anything else I should be looking into? Thanks again guys.

Hahaha yeah, luckily I have a good job for someone my age, plus another big deal for us teenagers and anyone really now is gas. Most of my money is going towards gas. That's why I'm planning on replacing the plugs and wires. I'm pretty sure they're the original ones and I'm willing to bet that they're cutting down on my gas mileage. I already have all kinds of things going through my head at this point, like an aftermarket exhaust and audio system. I better throw some of this money into the bank soon.
