im new and dont know whats going on

so just to be clear i do not yet own a ranger of my own but i have done work on my brothers taco and other vehicles in the family. i currently drive a 1999 c3500 with 4.11 gearing and a 454. i hate it. hate the money spent on gas mostly but ive been dreaming up a truck... 1998 2wd ranger xlt reg cab 2.3 5 speed. what are your recommendations on suspension, tires gearing ect.? im open to anything like i said haven't bought the truck yet. i like to plan out everything before i get started. my budget is 10,000.

also a question came up among my friends concerning a front dual shock mount for rangers. i belive softer springs and dual shocks in the front and rear would mean a nicer ride? just curious on your thoughts.

thanks everyone!

What are you trying to do with it? Are you trying to daily drive this thing? Or do you want to go offroad? If it's somewhere in the middle people usually settle on 33's with probably 4.56 or 4.88 gears for the 2.5.

Welcome to RF.

You can go up or down with the 2wd. There are plenty of guys who lift them and put larger tires on, and some guys who lower them.

Welcome! You should be able to build a solid truck for $10K!

thanks guys glad to be here. @Rooks i'm definitely looking to do mostly daily driving cause i will be commuting to college, hence the 2.5, but it also needs decent performance at hunting ranches, and around Mojave as i spend a lot of time at both. i want a suspension that can take all the big dips on dirt roads but still get me the gas mileage around town and on the highway. how much does changing the gearing cost? that is one area of trucks i know nothing about... other that 4.11 sucks for milage

thanks again
