Howdy y’all my names Cam. I just got my first ford after bein a dedicated jeep man for 15 years. It’s a 2000 ranger xlt single cab 4x2 5spd with a 3.0. I got it as a beat around town vehicle since I drive a take home work truck mon-fri and my wife has the nice new suv. First issue I was told about when I was buyin it was that the temperature gauge doesn’t work. Since I’m new to fords I ain’t got the slightest clue on where to start with that. Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank y’all.

Recommending your first new tool for this truck be a OBD2 Scanner, that will read+reset both StandardSAE & ProprietaryFORD Data+TroubleCodes.
With such a Scanner, its possible to read live Temp data, along with hundreds of other things; makes TroubleShooting easier & less expensive.
Click for more info on OBD2 Scanners.
