Icon6 Introductions

Hello everyone. I only signed up on here to maybe figure out y my 2004 Ford Ranger Edge decided to stop working! Hehehehe..........although just a few hours ago, I found out y. As it turns out, the wiring harness that goes from the relay box to the fuel pump somehow got a short in it.........still haven't found that.........but, my baby is running again, thanks to some new wiring, a fuse, and a toggle switch. Yeah, i know, but it is only temporary until I can find the spot where the short is and fix that.
Anyway.....I been looking around this forum and I like it and the discussions.....so I am staying. I will try and post some pics of me baby and me. I love my truck! OH.....the pic that I have as my profile pic is my other baby......Kayla. She isn't that little anymore.........she's soon to be 20 on the 29..........but in my heart, she's still dads little girl. Everyone is welcome to talk to me at any time.....just not all at once, ok.

Hello from Pa

I bought my 96 Ranger from my father who did not put but 36,000 miles on it. I have had it a year now and there is 56,000 on it. My father lived in Northern Pa where there is always snow and the undercarriage is rusted a little, but other than that it is in decent shape. I joined the forum to see if anyone had experience the problem I'm currently having. The check engine light is on and it has thrown two codes. One is lean in bank one and the other is lean in bank two. Been looking for any vacuum leaks, but haven't found any as yet. I cleaned the throddle body out as it was gummed up and have added fuel injector cleaner twice now. Since doing that, it seems to idle better at stop lights, but if I go to back up after being ran a while it stalls. Have looked for intake leaks, so far nothing. I'm really quite stumped. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'm all ears.

You might try the coil pack.....I have heard that it sometimes causes the rough idle stuff....maybe not the stalling........is it four cylinder or six pack? Also, check the owners manual. May have a section on trouble shooting. I will bet that it is the simplest thing....but finding it isn't simple. lol Keep asking in the forums too....someone will know more.

Hello, just thought that I would do an update at to what was really wrong with my truck when I first discovered this forum. Was not wires shorting. I had had an accident involving a guard rail. Well, apparently, my fuel shut off switch.....did not work as it should have. Later on.....after all repairs and stuff.....the dumb thing shorted out and melted down. That was the reason for the lose of power to the fuel pump! WOW!
