Just bought a 2000 Ranger XLT Supercab 3.0L 4x4 Flex, first vehicle
I just bought a 2000 Ranger XLT 3.0L Flex Fuel for $5,000. It is my first car and I want to work for for a while, I had a few problems when I got it.
I had a 3109 Engine Error, replaced cam angle shaft and sensor, works fine now.
Then had to get the ECM reprogrammed, now my check engine light is off.
Had the thermostat and heat sensor replaced
Changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, cleaned the battery terminals, flushed the radiator, ran sea foam which smoked for about 30mins, and replaced the serpentine belt.
I have now ran into a few other problems, my cigarette lighter and the 12v power outlet doesn't work, but my major problem is my overflow radiator cap keep popping off, I think its from air or could be to much antifreeze, I think I have a crack head gasket but my oil looks fine, the radiator seems to smell fine(no gas or oil smell), and everyone once in a while I see white smoke coming for my exhaust but the few times I have noticed it, it had been a little cool outside and since the cap pops off and antifreeze goes everywhere it got my serpentine belt wet and now I have a really bad squealing sound coming from it now so I will replace it again when I can fix the cap problem, does anyone have any other ideas besides the head gasket?
Other than those problems the engine seems to run ok, the 4x4 works ok, and the suspension seems to be ok and at least the tires look almost new. o, I was wondering if anyone has a diagram to the fuse box.
I am wanting to do a few things to it and was wondering if anyone has any cheap ideas, I have to pay for insurance and the car payment on my own and I go to school and work part time so I dont have much money to spend. I was wanting to replace the suspension, maybe a tool box for the back, and a cheap CD deck and when I get new tires i was told I could go possibly up to 31" tires on a stock truck without any problems. Any kind of ideas and help with my problems will help out greatly.
