Just got my license at 42yo - Got a Ranger.

Love this forum.

I'm 42 and have been a licensed driver for exactly one week - I've been a Ranger owner ever since!

Found a 2010 Sport 4x4 with 65,000klm on it and pulled the trigger. Great deal. Drives like new (not that I'd know...)

This place was a great help along the way while searching for the right truck.

I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions.

Now off to find info on how to remove the fender trim and what I can expect to find underneath them. Love the truck, but those Sport flares have to go.

Later.

Welcome

you can remove the fender badge with dental floss then use some gunk off to get the adhesive off the fender. You will find two holes in the fender to aid in alignment of the fender badge.

Same goes with the fender flares once removed you will have holes in the fenders.

Btw why did it take soooooooo long to get a DL?

Yeah, the badge I'm fine with. It's the Sport flares that I don't like. The big ones with the fake bolts... They just look too big and out of place.

Are the holes on the underside of the fenders? Or through the actual side of the fenders?

Yeah, as for the DL - Grew up in a small town, then NYC then Toronto... Never really needed it... But I've been spending a ton of the time in the country doing a house reno, so it was time...

Also, I'm sure my wife is just about sick of driving me everywhere.

I think Nissan started putting those flares on first when they made small trucks _ then Ford followed.
I always thought they looked kind of goofy with those phony allen key bolts.

Having fun driving, the novelty wears off pretty quick.
The most frustrating part about driving are people that don't know the rules.

More often then not, I'm expected to give the "left-away" at a 4 way stop.
People seem to want to do the opposite.

What gets my goat are these idiots on Canada's Worst Drivers _ how the hell did they get their license in the first place ?
They can't back up, they can't parallel park, they have no clue as to how much room their vehicle takes on the road.
It's just pathetic, it makes me think that the Toronto DMV would be liable for giving them their license.
Maybe they got it out of a Cracker Jack box. :-)

It's actually pretty tough here... Graduated licensing etc... The whole process takes a few years.

However, the actual road test is about 15 minutes... As long as you don't make a critical mistake, you'll pass. Failing at parallel parking is not a critical mistake.

I hear ya...

You may get lucky on the sport I am not positive it has holes for the flares.

The Ranger edge does.

I tried looking up replacement fenders for your truck and all the ones I have came across do not have the holes for the flares.

So you may be able to un bolt them from the underside which means you may only have some double sided tape to deal with along the fender.

Hopefully the paint has not had time to get damaged or sun faded.

Yeah, I'm hoping. To be honest, I dislike those flares so much that paying to have the work done to weld the holes and repaint the panels seems worth it...

I'm new to what model had what and to the differences on how things were installed. I like the Edge flares. I wouldn't take those off if the 2010 Sport had similar trim - but these look cheap and out of place.

And yes, I'm fully aware that I'm going to pay to have a 2010 4x4 Sport tranform into a 2006 2wd base model... LOL

As for the color difference, I told my daughter we could paint the truck (plasti dip) any color she wanted (she's 7) So this year will be white, next year she said pink, then green after that...

But first I'll level it, lift it and put on a set of 32s with matte black steelies.
