Howdy from Calgary
Howdy, I'm 45, have a '99 Ranger Sport 2wd with 140,000 km (85,000 miles?) that I've had for about 6 years. Dependable truck but the regular cab grocery squeeze and the lack of A/C and the lack of 4X4 has finally gotten to me. Wifey wants me to buy a used F150, we test drove a 2010 F150 the other day and boy is it the lap of luxury in comparison. But since they stopped making Rangers last year, the new ones are selling for "Get This Old **** Outta Here" prices, so as we speak a dealer is holding a new 2011 Ranger Sport 4X4 extended cab with a 5-speed manual trans. and manual windows for me. He's also got one with automatic and power equipment group and bedliner, but given the low prices, the difference amounts to more than 10% of the cost of the vehicle, which seems silly, given that I think I prefer a standard transmission anyway. Another dealer has an FX4 but I don't think I need that. I dunno.
Edit: Bought the 2011 Ranger. 4X4 extended cab, 5 speed standard, spray on bedliner, folding tonneau cover, remote starter, class 3 towing package, 2-bicycle carrier, spray on undercoating, 5 year all inclusive maintenance package. Soon as I take delivery I'm gonna do some soundproofing and install carpet.
