Michigan Ranger Lover

Hi Everyone,

I am the original owner of a 2000 Ford Ranger XL with 146,000 miles. It's been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned - even more reliable than my 2 Hondas. For the first 120,000 miles, all that needed replacing besides regular maintenance items was an alternator & serpentine belt.

At 120,000 a lot of problems began appearing (mostly due to age). In the last year I've replaced timing, water pump, ball joints, u-joints, exhaust, coil packs, plugs, wires, dashboard lights and leaf springs (adding a 4th one for extra cargo)

It's been running on 2-cylinders when cold for the last 20,000 miles and I just found out the top end needs to be replaced. Rather than replace the top end and have the bottom end go out a few months down the road, I'm having a new Ford engine put in after the 1st of the year.

Hopefully that will get me to 300,000 miles. I love this truck!

It's just too bad they won't be making them new anymore.
