My very first Ranger
Ita a generic code for a problem with the catalytic converter. Typical means you need to replace the cat. You also want to look for reasons why the cat would go bad which could be the engine running rich for any number of reasons, physical damage or leaks in other parts of the exhaust. Simply replacing the cat(s) without determining the reason for the failure may lead to future failures and more expensive repairs.
I just did an oil change and when I went to start the truck it does nothing. I dash lights come on but it will not turn over. CAA check the battery and it is in perfect condition. He said it might be the starter. Any ideas on what could have happened? I hope I am in the right area for posting my question.
Check the fuse and relay for the starter. Check the cables on the starter and battery. If that all seems good give the starter a couple wacks to see if it's frozen. If still nothing it's not hard to pop the starter off and run it over to a local parts store to have it tested. I'm guessing it's either frozen or the solenoid is bad. Either way basically it means get a new starter...
I did what you said ApexKeeper, low and behold a few wacks with a stick and hammer the starter came to life. Thank you for your assistance. Do you know where I can get the workshop manual or service manual that I can download or purchase in pdf format for the ranger 2008, 2.3 4CYL, Manual transmission PU.
Thanks
Thanks
