New guy from Ohio - just bought a 2011 Ranger

Hello ranger forums. My name is Scott and I'm from Pickerington, OH, a suburb of Columbus. On Friday I bought a 2011 Ranger 2wd XLT in Vista Blue Metallic, with the 2.3L and 5 spd manual. I looked long and hard to find the color/cab/engine/trans combo I wanted, and I had to drive a couple hours to buy it. I've put almost 300 miles on it since Friday and so far I love the truck!

Required awkward picture next to truck first:

To tell you a little about me, I graduated from OSU earlier this year, and once I started working I sold my old truck, a 97 Dodge Dakota with 274k miles on it. Once that was gone I pretty quickly started looking for a ranger to replace it. I've been a car guy all my life, and I do a lot of my own work (outside of warranty that is). My other car, my "fun" car, is a 1993 Dodge Stealth. It's a never-ending project that I've put waaaay to much time/money into. Here's a couple pictures of it too:

Anyway, that's me. I've been reading up on ranger info now that I have one, and this forum looks like it should help a ton with that.

-Scott

The Stealth is the non-turbo model, but I've got quite a bit done to it, mostly in the name of handling rather than straight line quickness. I bought it 4 or 5 years ago, and it only has ~82k miles on it. The original motor spun a bearing last year, and I've got just over 3,000 miles on a mostly stock rebuild, with just some durability/quality upgrades and a slight overbore. Motor-wise it just has a full exhaust, intake, etc., and it's got a bunch of suspension goodies like adjustable coilovers, upgraded sway bars, adjustable control arms, strut tower braces, and 275 tires. I've also replaced/restored ALL of the interior in two-tone black/tan leather, and built a decent stereo. A ton of work was done to the outside of the car too, and honestly there's too much to list as far as that goes....

My shirt was Ford Fusion promotional freebie, and it says that it "Sips fuel, but Devours Camrys and Accords" :)

Turbo for the truck would be in the waaaaaaay future, but I've strongly considered TT'ing the Stealth. The stock twin turbo setup from the AWD R/T models is nearly a direct bolt-on for the NA cars, as the 3.0 DOHC blocks are almost identical aside from the higher (10:1) compression ratio. Such a setup is generally good for 350-400whp, but then there's effectively no traction to be had....thanks fwd :(. Would make the car fun from a roll though!

As for pics, I have a million, here are a few more:

This is from when I had the car VERY VERY apart:

Older interior shots, mostly the same now though:

NICE. You need a sign saying "please remove shoes before entering vehicle"

Yea i really do love the color, and the gigantic ford badges are almost the same blue :).

As far as my plans, I'm going to get the bed Line-X'd within the next couple weeks, and buy some weathertech floorliners once they're released for 2011s. Apparently they changed the way the mats anchor to the floor on the 2011s... so I'll have to wait for them to offer the revised design. Aside from that I don't plan on anything crazy. Maybe adding a cargo light, and maybe a BAKflip hard tonneau cover. Down the road who knows.... it will probably get some appearance mods eventually, we'll see.

I mainly just plan on driving it and enjoying the mileage and "newness". I do a lot of camping/fishing, so I've always enjoyed having a pickup, and the ranger is my first new car purchase ever.

Is that a direct drop-in, or is there some modification required? I'll search lol.

It's actually the garage for the Recreation and Physical Activity Center or "RPAC", on OSU's campus. It's I believe the largest of it's kind with something like 15 basketball courts, an olympic size pool, a small track, tennis courts, etc. etc. etc. all under one roof!

It bolts right in. Usually just have to tap a wire for the cargo lights.
