New (old) Ranger owner in Florida
Hi. Thanks for letting me join. I am a 65 year old retiree living on the west coast of Florida. I speak three languages, English (obviously), German, and Spanish. I have been a carpenter, mostly, but have done a wide variety of kinds of work. Not much in the way of hobbies, I read a lot and keep aquariums and I have a wolf and two cats and a mockingbird living in my house. Not married, not looking. I look a lot like my avatar.
I recently bought, on ebay Motors, a 1986 Ford Ranger. It has broken shifter parts, and there seems to be confusion about whether there are two different 5-speed gearboxes that might be in this truck, or three. I came here hoping I might be able to get some information, advice, ...
This thing is pretty nice. It is white and has a practically new black bed liner. Runs like a clock and doesn't make very much noise nor leap around very much on the road. But the shifter went all to pieces, and now I am involved in a dispute with the ebay seller about his misrepresentation that he supposedly had repaired a shifter problem that he knew about. It lasted a few minutes and a few miles down the road.

Man, that was quick. Thanks for the welcome. I was just reading one of the threads about shifter kits, but nobody said anything about 2 or 3 different 5-speed gearboxes. Hey, I like your bright red Ranger.
