New to the Ranger community
Hey, just the quick and ugly version tonight. My name's Matt and I'm 19 yrs old in Seattle, WA. My sad story begins about 3 years ago with the purchase of a '94 Saturn courtesy of 'Craig's List'. Long story short - It finally runs again, has gained about 12 miles in the three years i've owned it, and i still don't have the title on it.
With that being said i accepted my losses and went vehicle searching again, the right way this time. I had considered many options but a Ranger was more a breeze of an idea I entertained on the side. Then while on a visit to a lot where i was hoping to look at a vehicle which was posted on the internet i was regrettably informed that it had been purchased earlier in the day.
I was asking about cars on the lot and the salesman was trying to push a '94 and '97 ranger off on me that i was not at all interested in. He said they had an '04 on the lot but that it was rough around the edges and probably wouldn't like it.
A cracked windshield, dented front passenger fender, scratched up paint in the bed, and riding on a donut. I fell in love. I am now the proud owner of a 2004 Ford Ranger, 2.3L, Black, 5-spd, 2WD, short bed. I have since then put a new tire on it, had fresh ceramic pads put on, as well as having my rotors and drums machined.
I'm looking at a performance exhaust upgrade as well as an intake system. I eagerly look forward to hearing thoughts on affordable ways to maximize horsepower as well as gas mileage for someone in my age group.
Also, i would like to make it clear that i am very mechanically impaired and do not know much in the way of.. well anything :) i hope to learn many things in my journey of Ford ownership. Thanks for the warm welcome and any input!

A meet in my area would be a godsend. Honestly, I could use the experience and knowledge to answer a few questions. All of my friends work on and drive anything as long as it's imported and when it comes to trucks i'm SOL for help. I've been looking at adding K&N intake, also any recommendations on which direction i should go in for exhaust? I'm looking to add horsepower as well as a little rumble but nothing that's going to sound like one of my friend's 'ricers'.
I'm ok with quiet considering i'm running a 4 cylinder
