New in Cleveland
Hello, I'm new to posting on this forum, but I have lurked for the past 2 months or so. In those 2 months I've already had two rangers haha :/
I normally drive a 1974 VW Beetle and with winter coming I knew I needed something to drive in the winter to save the Beetle from the salt and snow. So one day my dad (I'm 16) came home with a 1992 Ranger XLT Ext. Cab. It was rusty, but I liked it. 2 weeks later an 85 year old woman ran a red light and T-boned me. Broke the axle and totaled the truck.
Accident 9/21 - a set on Flickr (The whole set)
That was 9/21.
We paid $300 for it, running and everything. We got $1600 for it from insurance, and today my dad came home with another.
This one is a 2000 Ranger XLT Reg. cab. 165,000m. 4 cylinder 2wd Stick shift.
This presents a problem, I've never driven a stick before. I managed to back it out of my driveway and go around the block. I stalled at every stop sign, but managed to get it into 3rd gear. Tomorrow I'm gonna take it to an empty parking lot and practice. The interior is a little rough and the tailgates rusted, but I'm going to Pull a Part on Thursday, so I can get that stuff cheap. No pics of this one yet, but maybe tomorrow.
I did get a new radio to replace the stock AM/FM/CD, a Dual AM/FM/CD/HD radio/iPod, etc. for $99 on sale. It's nice, does bluetooth and all that hands free stuff. I don't plan on replacing the stock speakers though because I didn't want to spend much on things that can't be moved to the Beetle in the spring.
Long story short, I'm more or less new to Rangers but I'm hoping I'll pick up on their quirks like I have to old aircooled VW's.

Alright, I got some now. They're kinda crappy, cell phone pics and by the time I got home it was getting dark. I'll have some new ones tomorrow, I'm going to Pull-a-Part tomorrow to see about getting a new bench seat, map light, and tail gate. The current seat has grease all over it and is ripped, as well as the console lid doesn't stay shut. The interior lights cover is snapped off and broken. The tail gate is rusted at the bottom and the latch is broken.
There ya go, hope it's good enough to tomorrow when I really dig into it.

Nice truck! May I suggest looking for the ranger bucket seats (40/40) w/ console. like so..
Its an option for you if you can find them.
you might like them, some do some don't but since your buying seats you should look around to see if you like them.
Also id say look at explorer seats too (they bolt right up also).

I ended up getting a new dome light out of a Sable, works great except for the center light. It only lights up very very dimly, I haven't replaced the bulb, maybe that's it.
Looking through all the Rangers at two Pull a Parts and all the seats I saw were either dirty, or had a broken armrest console lid. I was looking at the various Explorers, and it looked like they used the same seat tracks as the Ext. Cab, is that right? I finally found a very clean '99 Extended cab that if you looked at the interior it was hard to believe it was in a junk yard. 182,000 miles and the interior looked almost perfect. I got the seats out of that and I plan to move them onto my regular cab rails. The seats are tan, and my interior is gray, but they were so clean I couldn't pass them up.
The seats.
I also picked up a tail gate off a 96, it was the right color and had no rust, unlike mine. I stupidly didn't even think about how my truck is a step side and of course the truck I grabbed it off of must of not been. So I have a useless color code FG tail gate
I also have some better pictures of the truck in some real light.
