Newb from NC

Hey everyone, my name is Derrick(D Rock is a nickname of mine). I just bought a 94
Ranger STX Reg. cab, 4x4, 4.0, auto for a steal($800). It needed a little work including the MAF sensor, IAC, brakes all the way around, balljoints, etc. but i could afford to fix all the minor things for the price. This is going to be my "knock around" truck. I'll use it as a DD, haul off the trash, and have some fun with in the woods. Currently the truck only has a leveling kit and 31x10.50r15 BFG all terrains.

I bought the truck to also keep the miles off of my Super Duty and also because it's much easier to maneuver in parking lots and so forth. I plan to put slightly bigger tires on the truck(32x11.50s or 33x12.50s) and maybe a pinch more lift. More than anything, i just want something to mess with again.

Just wanted to introduce myself, i'm sure i'll have some questions for you guys in the future. Thanks

Derick

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

Don't have any photos of the Ranger just yet. She needs a little attention, the clear coat is a little fadded so i'd like to compound it in the next week or so and see how it turns out. The body is in good shape, no rust. A few dings here and there but that doesnt bother me. Not certain that i like the purple/pinkish STX decals along the side, they may need to go. I'll try to get some pics of it tomorrow as it sits, then i'll do a before and after when i'm done with it(yea right).

Here's some pics of my Super Duty:

Any of you into four wheelers? Kawasaki Brute Force with 32" silverbacks:

I'll have pics of the ranger tomorrow. I know it's a Ranger site, but figured i'd show my other "toys" also, some of us may have common interests.

Thanks again for the welcomes and the compliments. The Brute is part of the reason i need more lift/bigger tires on the Ranger, can't have bigger tires on my ATV than on my truck. The Ranger won't be put through the holes that that four wheeler has seen, it's a mud machine and if it doesn't make it, i doubt much else would.

Good to see some more people from NC.

David-Where's Morgan's Corner?

Rapala- You're not far away at all. Where i live, i'm not in city limits. Durham is the closest city so i have a Durham address. I actually live in Chatham County, somewhat rural. My driveway is the Chatham/Wake County line with Durham county about 1/4 mile away.

Not far away at all, about 25-30 mins from me. Thanks for the welcome.

I'm on PSN also. I try not to log on too much, every time i do i get ideas.I enjoy going to truck and tractor pulls, i just don't participate because i can't afford to start breaking parts. I still have the original tranny in my SD with 133k miles, pretty sure a quick pull would do it in. What kind year SD do you have?

Thanks everyone.

Finally got some pictures of my $800 Ranger today. I've put almost that much in doing: plugs, wires, ball joints, front rotors and pads, front calipers, front bearings, rear wheel cylinders, rear shoes, rear drum hardware kit, fuel pump module, MAF sensor, IAC Valve, window motor, and i'm sure a few other things that i've forgotten.

I have some 15x8 Pacer 164p's coming and am planning to put some 32x11.50 Maxxis Bighorns. I also plan to take off the STX decals, compound the paint, get the dent out of the bed(see pic), and paint fender flares/front and rear bumpers/grille all the same color(black or a charcoal), along with some new headlights. It'll be a work in progress, but here's how it sits right now:

This is the only major dent on the truck, i think with a little patience and time i can get most of it out:
