Potential new Ranger owner
Potential new Ranger owner
Hello,
I am actively shopping for a Gen 3 Ranger. I haven't made a decision just yet, but am seeking feedback from the community to help in my decision making. I've posted a thread to general with photos of a recent inspection but it will need to be cleared by Mods. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there!
Welcome! I'm actually new the forum myself, but I've been reading from the group for a while. I really like the Third Generation myself; I drive an 05 Ranger Edge. What year are you looking at?
In practice, I probably have little to recommend; aside from personally liking the 3.0 engine, a view shared by a mechanic I know who drives an identical Ranger.
Cheers!

Hello there Island!
The 3rd gen has a special place in my heart. I always appreciated the simplicity and high end capability packed into a compact package. All of the new offerings out there seem to be way too big, its crazy.
I am looking at a 2009 FX4 with 132k miles. 4.0 SOHC V6 - which I think is how all FX4 are configured?
I had a 1995 Bronco XLT for many many years and I'm hoping to get the same type of longevity and reliability out of this 2009 if I pick it up.

Totally with you on that! I'm hoping mine lasts years to come, I dread the used vehicle market of the future - I expect lots of dying hybrids!
I think you're right - the 3.0 was discontinued after 2008. That Bronco must have been a blast!
