Ranger008 - Hello

I'm new to this forum. Just an average guy with limited mechanical knowledge and experience. I'm 62 retired now and was in law enforcement (specializing booze, lotteries & gambling ) for more than 25 years. I have a gift of being able to fix stuff; I'm the family's go to guy as I McGuiver my way to resolve / fix stuff. I live in Ottawa [ Canada's capital. ( Not Montreal or Toronto )

I had a 98 Ranger 2.5 with automatic , XLT for the last 12 years until it died from a terrible death in January 2018. In all of the regular and preventive maintenance, I neglected to change the timing belt. That's on me,,, totally preventable. I purchase a 2008 Ranger 5R55 , 2.3 (4cyl) ( base model) with more than 234,000 kms (145.4 k miles ) which is in good shape. I am planing to undertake a full preventive maintenance program on her so I can drive this Ranger for at least 25 years.

I've never participated in a forum; I will be seeking answers (many of them) and maybe post a thing or two once I get the hang of this.

Bad news; Today I was diagnosed with a big *** cancerous tumor on my left kidney. I've got too many things I want to do to my Ranger and other projects to be distracted by this SXXT,

Talk to you'z soon

I was very luck to find this vehicle purchased from the original owner. He had the vehicle undercoated at the time of purchase. He also had it undercoated every 2 years till present day. He did the follow up undercoating at Mr. Lube,, Durashield dripless on 03JUL17 for $90. I did the same with my 98 Ranger before it died from my neglect. ( timing belt ) FYI: BONUS the 08 2.3 has a chain !
