should i buy yes or no

im looking at a 1991 ranger 4x4...the guy wants $700.00 for it...its got 35's on it with 6" lift (3 on body and 3 on susp.) not bad so far right... to my understanding it has been sitting for a while. maybe 2-3 years. when i saw it, it had no front end on it, and was not running.

now a bit about me. i first of all have been a chevy guy for a long time. i have had about 30 cars in about 5-6 years. not that i mind tinkering on my car but...anyway there was a pattern forming and i didnt like it. buy a chevy, toss some money into it and it brakes. so i fix it and something else brakes. so i go to a bmw. run through 3 of them. nice bodys but part are a mint. answer there VW. now the proud owner of an 85 golf with 180hp, all motor 4 banger.

sorry strayed... what im saying or asking is if i put some money into this truck will i be happy with it?

PS i told a buddy about it and he laughed" ha ha ha welcome to the darkside ha ha ha". he drives a mustang
PSS the truck will be hole and running when i get it. sorry i forgot to mention that.

If you want it to offroad yes. If you want it as a daily driver, no

I didn't get what you were asking on my wall but I see now. The reason is..

".anyway there was a pattern forming and i didnt like it. buy a chevy, toss some money into it and it brakes. so i fix it and something else brakes"

I can't fully understand if your first post is saying that the vehicle is running or has been sitting for years and you want it as a project. Yah, if you want a project, it's good. But not as a daily driving vehicle because it sounds like it has issues to solve. Your 85 Golf sounds like a good daily driver and the Ranger could be for fun.

when i get my hands on the truck it will be running and in one piece. i guess what i need to know is how reliable is this thing. i'm not bad with a wrench and i will always be messing with it. i would just like the messing around to be a want and not a need. oh ya the golf wont be out till spring body and paint now.

if its running its still worth that much in parts. reliability comes to the motor trans combo, although ive had the worst 2.9 cologne/ backed by the a4ld, and that truck never officially died on me but there were times i barely made it home. if its a 91 its either a 4.0 or a 3.0 which is a good start, and it has the upgraded d35 front compared to the d28 in older models. check everything for excessive wear and tear since it was running 35's when it was parked

well to my understanding it is a 91 and it has the 4.0 in it. i went to have another look at it and he started it for me, it sounded ok . no funny noises. 2 new fenders & hood. so far it is going to need 2 doors and a rear bumper. also the tires are 32.5's not 35's. once i finally get my hands on it, i'll post some pics. thanks for the info guys. its my first ford and i'm hoping its not a lemon.

haha, with the sounds of it, don't expect it not to have problems or be somewhat of a lemon. It sounds like it would be a badass farm truck

hi welcome. this would be better in general discussion. introduce yourself is more for when you first join and you say hi and a little about your range or soon to be ranger. i guess this thread would work either way though. kinda. its border.

it sounds like a good trail rig or project truck.
